We are coming to you with a very serious topic today. This week is „Fashion Revolution Week“. It was established by UK based Community Interest Company Fashion Revolution. This is what they want to achieve:
We believe in fashion – an industry which values people, the environment, creativity and profits in equal measure, and it’s everyone’s responsibility to ensure that this happens. Our mission is to bring everyone together to make that happen. On 24th April each year, Fashion Revolution will bring everyone in the fashion value chain together and help to raise awareness of the true cost of fashion, show the world that change is possible, and celebrate all those involved in creating a more sustainable future. We thought it would be good to show you the label we sew into our products and explain every detail. Who makes your VERENA BELLUTTI products? Where are they made? How does it all work?
ONE | We only use tarpaulin surplus for all of our products. This way we ensure that no extra material is produced – we only use what has been left after technical production. The material is brand-new and probably wouldn’t get used otherwise. We are giving it new life and hope to inspire others to do the same!
TWO | We design all of our products here in Innsbruck/Austria. We make sure every detail is perfect before we hand the designs over to our seamstresses.
THREE | We are proud to say, that everything we put our name on is VEGAN, SUSTAINABLE and LONGLASTING.
Vegan because we don’t use any materials that come from animals, sustainable because we use fabric surplus, no water and the lowest possible engery consumption and we are longlasting because our bags are designed to last you a lifetime. The tarpaulin is very durable and resistant – it will stand the test of time. That means we distance ourselves from disposable fashion.
FOUR | Everything we do is 100% controlled by us – meaning we decide WHAT, HOW and WHERE everything is going to be produced. We produce a small amount of bags here in Innsbruck if needed. That means if we ever get an order that has to be done quickly, we have the ressources to sew a small quantity of bags here.
The rest of our products are handmade in a small town called Aš in the Czech Republic, 10 minutes from the German boarder. The sewing room where the bags are made, employs around 10 seamstresses out of which around 4 are responsible for our products. Since sewing our bags is quite difficult, the staff has to be highly trained.
The employees work from 7am to 3pm every Monday through Friday, get insurance and a good salary. This is a very important factor to us and we regularly drive to the Czech Republic to check on everything.
You can read more about or mission and production on the ABOUT page of our website.
